Boxwood Gulch Fishing Report for Sat, 22 Mar 2008

We sure have experienced plenty of winter this year … lots of low temperatures and plenty of snow. Then last week The Denver Water Board decided to turn off the water flows through Roberts Tunnel. Our water flow dropped from about 75cfs to 24cfs over a few days time.

The fishing has remained excellent from 11:00 AM until 6:00 PM. There is ice in the river until about 10:30 each morning. The guides are coming in early to help Mother Nature. Sleep in.You will catch plenty of fish even with a late start.

Anglers are averaging 20 fish each with numerous 24 inch and larger fish being landed on every trip, including some really big fish like the one Eddie is holding. (Photo will be posted in a few days.) His group of 8 anglers landed 183 fish on Saturday, March 22.

The hot flies have been Nuclear Eggs, #18-20 Rainbow Warriors, Black Beauties, Buckskins, and lately, pink San Juan worms.

As the weather warms there will be more water in the river and the fishing will just get better. Save some gas $$$ and time with a visit to Boxwood Gulch and Long Meadow. Youll catch more trout and bigger trout than just about anywhere else in this part of the world.
