Early December 2016 Fishing Report

This 25 inch Bow took a #20 Black Rainbow Warrior. Mike was extremely happy with his decision to do a winter fishing trip at Boxwood….You will be too. While we have been having some cold days the fish have been extremely cooperative. Days of 15 to 20 fish per angler have not been uncommon. Many comments […]

Boxwood Will be Open All Winter

Boxwood will be open all winter, or until ice and snow forces us to close. Denver Water says they plan on running Roberts tunnel all winter. This is excellent news. The fishing will be spectacular … fish like the one Robin landed on 11-4-16 will be waiting for you. Pat Dorsey guided Robin to this […]

Late September Fishing Report

We fished into some low water conditions in late September…..35-45 cfs. The fish were still extremely active and not showing any signs of stress. Just ask Ed and Todd who were guided by Jeremy from 5280 Angler on September 26th. They landed about 75 fish including a 32 incher and a 28 inch Bow. Quite […]

Reopening on October 22

Boxwood will reopen on Oct. 22, 2016. (We had to close for 3 weeks while Denver Water did some repairs to Roberts Tunnel). The tunnel is open now and flowing at 200cfs … perfect.   We will stay open until ice and low flows force us to close for the season. Check with one of our […]

September Fishing Report

This is what memories are made of: A family fishing trip at Boxwood Gulch complete with a great looking Rainbow Trout…..priceless. Fishing/Catching the last several weeks of August and the first week of September remained excellent at both Boxwood and Long Meadow, including a 33 inch Rainbow landed at Long Meadow (I will put the details […]

Brian with a brook trout

August Fishing Report

Once again I received so many great pics of huge fish…over 26 inches…that I decided to use this Brook Trout as an example of the quality and variety of fish that can be landed at Boxwood and Long Meadow. Brian and his son Chase were part of a group of 11 anglers fishing with Blue […]

July Fishing Report

Dave actually landed this huge Boxwood Bow on Aug. 4. The fly used was a #18 tungsten flash back black beauty. Both Dave and his guide, John Keefover out of the Blue Quill Angler, estimate the fish to be 28-30 inches and the wt. to be 12-14 lbs. Quite a fish. Now let me tell you […]

Matt and his son Max with a beautiful Tiger Trout

Matt and his son Max, with a beautiful Tiger Trout. Max and Matt were both helping out at The Battle at Boxwood event. They decided to do a little fishing and Max landed the Tiger Trout all by himself. He can cast a streamer quite well for a 7 yr old angler. (Maybe it’s a […]

June: What a Month for Big Trout

… like the one Cathy T. landed at Long Meadow on 6-26-16. This is just one of several really huge Trout that Cathy and her family landed on a 2 day trip to Boxwood and Long Meadow. Our high water in June was only 470 cfs and we fished it with great success. While gin […]

Many big fish landed in May

Wes landed this Boxwood Bow on a Breadcrust pattern provided by his guide Pat Dorsey…Pat also took the photo. Thank you Pat and Wes for sharing the information. May has always been one of our most outstanding months in terms of catching large fish. This May was not an exception. I would not be exaggerating […]
