November Fishing Report

WOW….What a start for November. Larry landed this Trophy Boxwood Bow on a flying ant pattern that his guide, Nick, of 5280 Angler fame tied just for the trip. Imagine spotting this fish in gin clear water and then having it smash your floating ant pattern. Where else but at Boxwood would this possibly happen….and […]

October Fishing Report

We had great water all month. Thank you Denver Water. Anglers were able to spot and stalk fish like the one Scott landed with guide Jeremy Hamilton of 5280 Angler. Gin clear water and an experienced guide with some good luck produced quite a few trophy fish at both Boxwood and Long Meadow. Hot flies […]

Late September Fishing Report

September was a month to remember at Boxwood. Many fish in the 10 lb. range were hooked and landed. Anglers also enjoyed landing some of the biggest Palominos of the year, as well as some stunningly beautiful Browns and Tiger Trout. Fish have been landed on nymphs, streamers and dries. As veteran anglers to Boxwood […]

September Fishing Report

After being closed for nearly 6 weeks we re-opened and the fish were ready to play. We have plenty of cold, clean water thanks to Denver Water releasing some water from Dillon Reservoir thru Roberts Tunnel….the fish love it and so will you. The young fellow is Jake. He is quite an angler for his […]

July Fishing Report

The fishing was fantastic all through July until July 21 when we had to close due to poor water quality. We noticed the fish, once caught, did not recover from the stress of battle and others just shut down and refused to play. We figured the best solution was to just temporarily shut down until conditions […]

June fishing report

Steve took advantage of off colored, higher water to land this monster Brown. Along with 5280 guide, Ron Pecore, Steve worked a streamer to land many different trout species….not all as large as this one. June was an overall great month for landing lots of fish on San Juan Worms, leech patterns, and large Stone […]

We opened again on May 1 and we have had great fishing on each trip. Run off has started so we get some off colored water. It clears some by the afternoon. It’s better for catching fish but it doesn’t look as good as the gin clear water we will have later this summer and […]

Late April Fishing Report

We did some test fishing on April 27. The results convinced us that the fish are ready for a fight on opening day May 1. 2 anglers fished from 11:30 to 4 pm. They landed 30 Trout fishing primarily pink San Juan Worms and egg patterns. They caught Rainbows, Brown, Brooks, Tigers and a Palomino. […]

April Fishing Report

Not much to report because we have been closed since March 11. No fishing….No pics of trophy fish. Winter just will not end this year. Cold weather and snow coupled with Denver Water shutting off Roberts Tunnel has made for more ice than water. Here we are on April 10, setting up a trail cam […]

Mid March Fishing Report

Between snow storms and cold night time temps we had some unreal fishing trips at Boxwood and Long Meadow. A few examples as follows: While the big Bows are usually the longest trout landed, plenty of other large species are caught as well: 24 inch+ Browns, 20 inch Palominos, 18 inch Tigers, 16 inch Brookies, […]
